The Producer's Economy: Selling Beats in the Age of TMI
How producers on the platform are earning without labels, without middle-men, and without giving up rights
By TMI Finance Desk · May 29, 2026
The producer tier on TMI doesn't perform. They supply. Every artist who needs a track, a sound, or a custom beat can find one through the Beat Marketplace — and every transaction benefits the platform's producing community.
Current marketplace statistics: 4,200 beats listed. Average price: $42. Top-selling beat: licensed 340 times. Top-earning producer this month: $18,400.
License Types Explained
Basic License ($25): non-exclusive streaming rights, up to 100,000 plays, no physical distribution. Premium License ($75): non-exclusive, unlimited streaming, physical distribution allowed. Exclusive License ($500+): full ownership transfer, artist gets exclusive rights and the beat is removed from marketplace.
"I sold an exclusive for $1,200 last month. That beat cost me four hours to make. That's $300 an hour." — Producer, K. Mayne
Producers on the platform keep 90% of every license sale. The 10% platform fee funds the marketplace infrastructure, the discovery algorithms, and the promotional placement that drives traffic to their catalog.
